A mother and child are regular guests at the cafe. They're wonderful people and it truly is a joy serving them, loving them, and praying for them. However, they're experiencing a very difficult time within their home. The mom and son are going through counseling at the cafe. At the end of their session last week, the child got very upset and began hitting and kicking. We had to restrain the child and call the police and an ambulance. It was heartbreaking to witness.
I have two prayer requests.
The great prophet Isaiah wrote, "The fruit of righteousness will be peace; the effect of righteousness will be quietness and confidence forever" (Isaiah 32:17).
Request #1: Ask the Lord to graciously use me, Janis Nazarian, and the cafe volunteers as agents of peace through the ministry of Cafe 41:11. Ask the Lord to give us the quietness and confidence that Isaiah speaks of as we minister to hurting young people and families. And ask the Lord to graciously provide peace to this mother and child as they work through their pain.
Request #2: Mindee, Mollie, and I thank you for your prayers and for those currently supporting us on a monthly basis. We are truly thankful for every dollar you send in, hand to us, or pin on my dartboard. I can't complain. I have friends who were laid off a few weeks ago because of the economy. They have no job; no paycheck. I'm thankful to God for His loving kindness and care of me, my wife, and daughter.
Would you please pray for my families financial needs? Jesus has obviously called us to this cafe ministry. You witnessed how He provided the rent money for the cafe and more. We need Jesus to provide more consistent monthly donations from people wanting to partner with us in this faith endeavor.
My check for the month of October was a little over fifteen hundred dollars before taxes. Throughout our time as missionaries with the cafe, we've lost a significant number of supporters. We're believing God to replace and increase our support base. We're asking the Lord for peace. We're asking Him for a "quietness and confidence" (as Isaiah wrote) regarding my salary.
Will you ask Jesus to throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that we will not have room enough for it? As you sow a seed of prayer into our lives, please contact me if He brings to your mind any individuals, businesses, churches, or even foundations whom you feel may have a heart to give. I'll happily meet face-to-face with them to share the vision of Cafe 41:11. This is one way, along with your prayers, that God can use YOU to meet the needs of our family!
Mindee, Mollie, and I look forward to seeing when our Sovereign King will provide! Pray for patience and wisdom on our part to continue to believe Him as we serve young people and families like the mother and child I mentioned. We are believing Jesus for a quietness and confidence as we serve.
